Steve said he found the woman sitting up in the middle of the chariot. The motion of the merry-go-round would have made it impossible for a dead body to remain upright in the middle of the chariot, especially after one or two rides, and that makes Steve’s statement impossible.

It seems Steve was trying to spin a story… The only reason to tell lies to a Detective would be if he’s hiding something… like murder!
