Mr Rivers was lying face down with his waist coat buttoned. If he had killed himself he would have simply fallen face down on the ground.

And if his watch crystal, which was in the inside pocket of the waist coat, had been broken by his fall, none of the glass could have been found on the floor.

But the crystal was all over the floor. Which means the events that took place were not as cut and dry as a suicide. It’s possible that someone murdered Mr Rivers and staged it to look like a suicide.
