Oliver’s throat had been cut so severely that he’d almost severed his head. While unlikely, it might have been possible for Oliver to inflict such a wound himself.

However, if he had, it would have been impossible for him to then take off his coat and fling it across the room which must have been done after the wound was inflicted because it was covered in blood.
