The three sets of Mr Cooper’s footprints in the path told Mogau the story. Had Cooper been at the house when Dave was shot, as he reported, there would have been four sets of his footprints.

Cooper, therefore, lied about his whereabouts and movements, which was enough for Field Marshal Mogau to hold him on suspicion.
