It was easy for Mogau to believe Mrs. Carter when she said she hadn’t gathered what was going on, given that Roger was lying 150m below the cliff in thick fog.
Fog so thick that the powerful observatory lights were just faint glows… described by Mr Reynolds himself.
When Reynolds claimed to see Roger 150 below the cliff side, Mogau knew he was lying because it is physically impossible for anyone to have seen anything that far down in those conditions.
When there is reason to lie, there is something to hide, and what he was hiding was murder!
